Stephanie Marlow Penner is an artist.
With an eye what’s beautiful and cool, a sense of rebellion and a talent for reading between the lines – seeing what others don’t and being able to translate that into beautiful spaces in which people feel most at home. Her multi-faceted career includes art direction, styling, floral design, and always interior design. While she studied Interior Design @ The Art Institute, and has worked for established design firms, she prides herself in being taught through the experience of jumping in the deep and setting out to create something more beautiful, intuitive and unique to each project. Big Marlow Design + Build was founded in 2025, but has been in process for 20 years. Together with James, Stephanie aims to bring a confidence, vision, and knowing to each project that leaves clients feeling proud of their home and excited to share it with their people.
James Penner is a Red Seal Carpenter.
His attention to detail is unmatched. He is strong and steady and may be one of the hardest-working, most capable people you'll meet. By nature, he’s patient, dedicated and curious as evidenced by his career. Twenty-two years ago he began work as a labourer on a residential framing site, fifteen years ago, he started a construction business, and five years ago he moved from Calgary to the Okanagan challenging the red seal exam, and learning how to work every part of architectural builds, immersing himself in both the building and project management sides of building. He’s the guy you want in your corner. His depth of knowledge and constant desire to learn has led to founding Big Marlow Design + Build. It was always inevitable that James and Stephanie would design + build together for others, given that they have been doing so together on their own projects for 20 years.
